About Me
My name is Chris Heaven and this personal
website has sprung out of my interest in
railways and railway history. Over the years
I have accumulated a small collection of
historic railway documents and ephemera.
I find these fascinating as one can glean
so much from them about the past times of
the railways of Britain, and the life of
the nation in general. This can be both directly
from their content but also from “reading
between the lines” and applying a little
imagination. I am sure there must be others
like me and so I am now making some of these
documents available either in re-printed
format or digitally on CD.
By profession I am a Consultant Ophthalmologist
(eye surgeon) but we all need something outside
of our jobs to keep us sane; and I have an
eccentric reputation to maintain. As well
as enjoying reading and researching old railway
documents I have also liked to get my hands
dirty a bit and have restored an ex BR 20T
brakevan in our front garden.
